Leah Barrett Appointed Chief Commercial Officer at Global Procurement Group

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Written 21 May 2026

Global Procurement Group has appointed Leah Barrett as Chief Commercial Officer, placing her in direct oversight of the Group’s commercial operations across Northern Gas and Power, ClearVUE and the wider portfolio.

The appointment positions Leah as the second most senior leader in the business, with responsibility for revenue operations, commercial performance, customer strategy and growth execution across the Group.

Leah joined Northern Gas and Power in August 2016, long before the business reached its current scale. At the time, the sales floor looked very different to the operation that exists today. She entered the business at ground level, managing agents directly and developing an understanding of the commercial operation from the inside out.

Over the following years, she progressed through increasingly senior leadership positions across both Northern Gas and Power and ClearVUE, ultimately operating at Director level while retaining close oversight of frontline performance and sales execution.

That breadth of experience is central to why this appointment carries weight internally.

There are very few people inside the Group who understand the full commercial operation as comprehensively as Leah does. She has worked across prospecting, lead generation, supplier negotiation, account delivery, contract governance and operational performance. She has built teams, established connections, managed departments and helped shape many of the commercial processes still embedded in the organisation today.

That experience also gives her unusually strong visibility across the wider energy ecosystem the Group operates within.

Customers increasingly expect procurement partners to provide more than contract placement alone. They expect commercial discipline, transparency, governance and long-term strategic support through volatile markets. Suppliers expect operational consistency, credible forecasting and well-managed customer portfolios.

Leah has operated at the centre of those relationships for years, helping shape the standards and commercial approach that underpin how the Group works with both customers and supplier partners today.

Her influence across the business and the wider sector has been established for several years.

Leah played a key role in developing the compliance and governance frameworks that helped differentiate Northern Gas and Power during a period of rapid growth. Earlier in her career, she helped establish the Group’s contract validation process, designed to strengthen transparency, consistency and auditability across the sales journey.

The framework became a defining operational standard during a period when governance expectations across the energy sector were increasing significantly.

Her leadership has also been recognised externally over time. Leah was named CEO Today’s Energy Services Female Leader of the Year in both 2021 and 2022, recognition tied closely to her work around operational standards, compliance and customer governance across the Group’s international operations.

Inside the business, colleagues tend to describe her impact differently.

They describe someone who understands the pressure of the sales floor because she worked on it herself. Someone who knows what strong performance looks like because she has delivered it consistently through multiple market cycles. Someone who sets expectations clearly and holds people accountable to them.

Over recent months, Leah has worked directly alongside Group CEO Fokhrul Islam on a number of operational and structural developments across the organisation, supporting the Group’s continued growth and evolution internationally.

Announcing the appointment, Islam described the promotion as representative of a wider change taking place across the Group’s leadership structure and operating culture.

“Leah represents exactly what we want our leadership to look like,” he said.

“Someone who has grown with the business, raised the standard at every stage, and built strong teams around her. This appointment was a natural step.”

The appointment also represents one of the most senior female commercial leadership appointments in the Group’s history.

Speaking following the announcement, Leah said her focus would remain firmly on continuing the standards, commercial discipline and customer outcomes that have underpinned the Group’s growth to date.

“This business has grown enormously over the years, and I’ve had the privilege of growing with it. I’ve seen what it takes to build strong teams, look after customers, and keep delivering consistently as the business grows.

“Across Northern Gas and Power, ClearVUE and the wider Group, we’ve got fantastic people, strong customer relationships, and a business that’s been built the right way over many years.

“As CCO, my focus is making sure we keep building on that, keep supporting our teams, staying close to our customers, and continuing to deliver the standards we’re known for as we grow internationally.

“I’m really proud of what we’ve achieved so far, and I’m looking forward to what’s ahead.”

Leah’s progression from Sales Team Manager to Chief Commercial Officer has become widely recognised internally as an example of the Group’s emphasis on merit-based progression and operational credibility.

Colleagues across the organisation have pointed to the fact that every stage of her career has been built through direct delivery inside the business itself.

Global People Director Scott High said the promotion reflected the type of leadership culture the Group intends to continue building.

“Leah’s career with GPG has been defined by delivery, not only managing commercial performance but consistently raising the standard of how we operate. Leah has shaped high-performing teams, built robust governance structures, and driven results,” he said.

“What stands out about Leah’s progression is that it has been built through real commercial delivery at every stage. From frontline sales leadership to designing the operational infrastructure that underpins our growth today, her experience is grounded in execution, not theory.

“For our customers and partners, this appointment means the Group’s commercial direction is being led by someone who genuinely understands every layer of how we deliver.”

As Chief Commercial Officer, Leah will now oversee all commercial operations across the Group, including sales performance, customer acquisition strategy, commercial governance and revenue delivery.

For customers and partners, the appointment reinforces the Group’s continued focus on governed procurement, operational accountability and long-term customer relationships.

As the business continues to expand internationally and evolve its technology platforms through ClearVUE, Leah will play a central role in ensuring the Group continues to deliver the standards, commercial discipline and customer outcomes it has become known for.

The appointment comes during a period of continued international growth for Global Procurement Group, which now operates across the UK, Europe, the Middle East and India, supporting customers across energy procurement, flexible purchasing, carbon reduction and AI-enabled energy technology platforms.
